Successful applicants for the position should have the following qualifications: 

  • High school, GED, or equivalent diploma. Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required
  • Passion for education and working with young people
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Strong interest in learning about tech and innovation
  • Comfortable with public speaking 
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to work 1 night per week and 1-2 weekends per month
  • Able to attend training sessions  
  • Able to obtain state and federal criminal and child abuse clearances 

INNOVATION COACHES

Do you enjoy helping others make their ideas come to life? Join the Innovation League as an Innovation Coach, where you will guide and assist underrepresented students of Philadelphia learning about tech and innovation. This year, Coded by Kids is launching its Innovation League. The Innovation League is a league for entrepreneurial and creative Philadelphian youth between the ages of 12-18 looking to participate in innovation competitions that build their technology and leadership skills.

This a part-time and paid position. Coaches will receive a one-time $2,500 stipend for the season. The season is from September 2021 to January 2022.

Innovation Coaches will support teams of students ages 12-18 competing in the new 1Philadelphia Innovation League from September 2021 to January 2022. Coaches will receive training on the program’s curriculum to hold weeknight practices (1 time a week) and attend weekend competitions (once a month) with students. Coaches must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school, GED, or equivalent diploma.

About Coded by Kids: Coded by Kids is a Philadelphia-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit fighting inequity by preparing underrepresented young people to succeed as tech and innovation leaders through project-based learning and mentorship. Our programs are designed to provide young people with beginner to advanced level software development, data science, and user experience design skills.
